Lions Project: Preschool Autism Spectrum Disorders Education and Therapy

GUEST SPEAKER
AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS

Autism Spectrum Disorders. It is a confusing and challenging condition that affects one in 119 children and impacts enormously on their family.
Sadly, there is no known cure. But there is a way of improving greatly the quality of life of these young people – early intervention.
CEO of the Sylvanvale Foundation, Pauline Stanley and her team are experts on the topic of autism and the importance of early intervention preschool education and therapy for children with autism spectrum disorders. Pauline has 28 years experience in the human services sector the majority of them spent in the disability arena.
As a fellow Lion, I recommend Pauline Stanley to all Lions wishing to know more about this very confronting topic. Pauline and her team would be honoured to be guest speakers at one of your next Lions Club meetings. Contact her now on (02) 8536 0101 or (02) 8536 0100. G' Day and welcome to our Lions Family of Sydney and Norfolk Island.

I would like to this opportunity to thank all of our Lions, Lioness and Leo Members who not only believed in me but have also supported me throughout my eleven years as a Lion. I accepted this Challenge of leading our great District for 2011/2012 two years ago when I was elected as your 2nd Vice District Governor, the time is now and the plans are set in motion we must soldier on.

My Theme for the year is, Building a City of Lions.

As we reflect upon the grand designs and constructions within our city we must also remember that without a solid foundation our community will not appreciate the Brick by Brick efforts put in by our Lions members.

Our District involves over 70 Lions, Lioness and Leo Clubs including our Pacific Companions of Norfolk Island who have 2 Clubs of their own. If we relate to each club as a building we must first start with a solid foundation, and if every member represents a brick then member by member we can build a solid foundation. Even though some buildings are in a constant repair and maintenance mode, we as Lions are always searching the avenues of extension and additions within our International structure.

International President Dr Wing Kun Tam of China, officially welcomes me as one of the 756 Governors from around world and also 1 of 19 Governors in Australia.

Our International Presidents' Theme for the Year is, I Believe

With goals, projects and programs for us all to promote and achieve, together we can expand our Lions Profile. Expansion involves everyone, My Club My Family is one of President Tams Programs.
Leos and our Youth are also a great asset within our organization for they will become our future Leaders, Governors of the world are giving back to the environment by taking on President Tams' pledge of planting one million trees, our actual pledge stands at 3.8 million trees, not bad for 206 countries and 756 Governors.

Within our Lions Organisation is a vast network of specialty coordinated projects, foundations, kids camps, Community & Youth Programs, Drug and Alcohol awareness programs. We also support and fund the largest Save Sight program throughout the world.

Lions Australia is divided into 19 Districts and covers from Papua New Guinea to Tasmania from Norfolk Island to Fremantle. My fellow Governors and I have all set Goals and Themes for the Year so as to continue with Spirit and Fellowship of Lions. For it is our time and dedication we offer as Volunteers in serving and supporting our Communities.

So if I BELIEVE then I hope you can also, please join me in
Building a City of Lions.
